One year after Wells College closed, the village of Aurora is navigating uncertainty with cautious optimism, according to local leaders interviewed by The Citizen.
The loss of the college cut Aurora’s population in half and disrupted local businesses, but plans are underway to revitalize the community.
The 127-acre campus is for sale, with proposals including educational uses, housing, and commercial development. Meanwhile, private investment — like the Wells College Golf Club — is fueling hopes for economic growth.
