Seneca Meadows will mark its 22nd annual Mulch Day Giveaway on Saturday, May 10, offering free mulch to Seneca County residents and collecting toys for a local holiday charity drive. The event will run from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. at 1786 Salcman Road in Waterloo.
Essential workers at Seneca Meadows will assist participants by loading either two containers by hand or using a skid steer for up to two scoops per household. The mulch—available in black or natural brown—is sourced from a local business. It will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited supplies available. For safety, residents must remain in their vehicles and follow traffic instructions.
The giveaway will once again support the “Christmas in May” toy collection campaign. In partnership with Waterloo High School’s Honor Society, Seneca Meadows encourages attendees to bring a new, unopened toy for the Seneca County Community Christmas Project.
Waterloo students will be on-site to collect the toys. Student Nate Robson said, “I enjoy seeing the kindness of our community during this event.” Fellow student Kayleigh Hubbard added, “It feels good to give back to our community with events like this.”
Bringing a toy is not required to receive mulch, but organizers say donations are appreciated. The program remains exclusive to residents of Seneca County.
