The New York Yankees made a few roster moves ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The club signed right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino to a Major League contract and placed closer Devin Williams on the paternity list. Additionally, right-hande JT Brubaker was transferred to the 60-day injured list to open a 40-man roster spot for Ottavino.
Ottavino, 39, returns to the Bronx, where he spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons, recording a 2.76 ERA in 97 outings.
The veteran initially signed a minor-league deal with the Boston Red Sox in February 2025 but opted out in March. Over his 14-season career, Ottavino has played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, Yankees, Red Sox, and New York Mets, accumulating a 3.49 ERA with 46 saves in 724 games. Since 2017, his 496 appearances rank among the most in the league.
Williams can miss a maximum of three days while on the paternity list so it remains to be seen if he will miss the entire three-game series against the Diamondbacks.
