New York’s job market showed modest growth last month, with the state adding 3,700 private sector jobs in February—a 0.1% uptick—according to the state Department of Labor.
That brings the total to 8.46 million private jobs statewide, matching the national growth rate. Year-over-year, New York saw a 1.3% increase, just above the U.S. rate. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate dipped slightly to 4.3%, with New York City improving to 5.3%. However, the rest of the state saw a small rise to 3.6%.
The data is based on surveys conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
