Joey Spallina delivered a career-high 11 points to lead No. 10 Syracuse to a 16-12 win over No. 20 Colgate on Saturday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Spallina and Owen Hiltz both reached 200 career points during the game, becoming the 18th and 19th players in program history to do so. Hiltz’s first-quarter goal, assisted by Spallina, marked the milestone. Spallina, with five goals and six assists, matched Tim O’Hara as the second-fastest Syracuse player to reach 200 points, achieving it in 42 games. Hiltz, who recorded three goals and two assists, reached the mark in 54 games, tying Paul Gait for the 12th-fastest in program history.
Syracuse (7-2) saw contributions from nine different players. Trey Deere scored four goals, while Luke Rhoa, Sam English, Billy Dwan III, and Greg Elijah-Brown each added one. John Mullen and Jordan Beck provided assists.
Colgate (5-4) had six players notch two goals apiece, with 10 of its 12 goals coming in the second half.
The Orange return to action next Saturday when they take on Virginia at Klockner Stadium. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
