An Odessa resident has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for sexually abusing two children under the age of 13. Marcel Veilleux, 67, received the maximum sentence on multiple charges, including first-degree rape and promoting a sexual performance by a child.
Schuyler County Judge Matthew C. Hayden handed down the sentence on March 13, ordering 25 years for first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act, along with additional concurrent sentences for related offenses. Veilleux will also serve 20 years of post-release supervision and must register as a sex offender.
Prosecutors detailed how Veilleux groomed and manipulated the victims, using threats to prevent them from reporting the abuse. Investigators found hundreds of explicit photos on his computer and phone. The court also issued a 33-year order of protection for the victims.
