Geneva Historical Society receives ESL grant for new art exhibits

The Geneva Historical Society is among the local organizations receiving funding from ESL Federal Credit Union’s latest round of grants, which total $3.2 million across the Greater Rochester region. The historical society was awarded $5,000 to support its upcoming 2025 art exhibits and programs.

The grant will help the Geneva Historical Society expand its community outreach by participating in local events and collaborating with other organizations. The funding will support efforts to share Geneva’s rich history through multiple formats, engaging both current and new audiences. By connecting contemporary residents with stories from the past, the initiative aims to foster a greater appreciation for American history.

The Geneva-based organization is one of 91 grant recipients in ESL’s fourth-quarter funding cycle, which supports nonprofits working in education, workforce development, and community enrichment. Maureen Wolfe, ESL’s executive vice president of human resources and community impact, emphasized the importance of these investments in strengthening local communities.

“We are proud to support our community partners and committed to funding programs that help build a stronger Greater Rochester region,” Wolfe said.

Since launching its Community Impact initiative in 2018, ESL has reinvested more than $145 million into the community. This latest round of grants includes support for a range of programs, from housing assistance and workforce development to education on civil rights history.
