Amber Alert test scheduled for Upstate NY

New York State Police will conduct a test of the Amber Alert system in the Rochester area on Thursday, March 6, at 10 a.m. This system, designed to quickly mobilize the public in child abduction cases, is a partnership between law enforcement, broadcasters, and emergency alert services.

The test alert will be sent to mobile phones in AMBER Alert Region 2 via the Wireless Emergency Alerts system and broadcast on TV and radio through the Emergency Alert System. The affected counties include Monroe, Erie, Niagara, and several others.

Residents receiving the test alert are asked to click the provided link, confirming the system’s functionality. For more details, visit amber.ny.gov.
