Sabres six-game home win streak ends with loss to Montreal

The Buffalo Sabres’ six-game home win streak came to an end with a 4-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night at KeyBank Center.

The game saw an action-packed second period, with both teams combining for five goals. Buffalo briefly took a 2-1 lead before Josh Anderson tied it for Montreal. Alex Newhook then netted the go-ahead goal with just 2.6 seconds remaining in the period.

Cole Caufield also found the back of the net for Montreal in the second, while Jake Evans sealed the win with an empty-netter late in the game. Rookie goaltender Jakub Dobes made 23 saves for the victory.

Alex Tuch and Jiri Kulich scored for the Sabres, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 25-of-28 shots.
