ORANGE GAME DAY: Syracuse begins final road trip at Virginia Tech (preview)

Syracuse (12-16, 6-11 ACC) begins its final road trip of the season this afternoon when it visits Virginia Tech (12-16, 7-10 ACC) at noon.

The Orange enter this matchup on a positive note after defeating NC State, 74-60, its largest ACC victory this season. J.J. Starling led with 17 points, while Eddie Lampkin Jr. posted his 12th double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Starling has been on a scoring tear, averaging 21.2 points over the last five games. Lampkin has also been dominant on the boards, averaging 11.2 rebounds over the past 18 games.


Virginia Tech narrowly lost to Louisville, 71-66, on Tuesday despite Brandon Rechsteiner’s 18 points. Tobi Lawal leads the team with 12.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Syracuse leads the all-time series 13-7, but Virginia Tech has won the last two meetings at Cassell Coliseum.
