South Seneca freshman Barrett David makes school history as youngest state wrestling representative

South Seneca freshman Barrett David is making waves in the wrestling world, becoming the youngest wrestler in the school’s history to qualify for the New York State Boys Wrestling Championship.

This weekend, Barrett will head to Albany to compete among the state’s best, a remarkable achievement that has solidified his status as one of the top young wrestlers in the region.

Barrett’s road to the state tournament has been nothing short of impressive. Despite missing the first half of the season due to a broken fibula sustained during football season, he has amassed a stellar season record of 27-1. His career record now stands at an impressive 95-16.

This season, Barrett clinched first place at the Wayne Finger Lakes League Championship for the third consecutive year, showcasing his dominance and consistency. He also secured first place at the Class B3 Sectionals in Lyndonville. His journey to state qualification was capped off in dramatic fashion at the State Qualifier in Bath, where he battled his way to a second-place finish, sealing his spot in the state tournament with a decisive pin in his true second match.
