DOGE stimulus plan would exclude low-income Americans

A proposed $5,000 “DOGE Dividend” from government cost savings may leave out low-income Americans, as only net-income taxpayers would qualify. The plan, championed by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and backed by Trump, aims to distribute 20% of $2 trillion in budget cuts to taxpayers.

The payout, devised by investor James Fishback, seeks to avoid inflation concerns by limiting eligibility to households that pay more in taxes than they receive in benefits. However, critics note this would exclude many lower-income individuals.

Despite Trump’s support, the plan faces opposition within the GOP, raising doubts about whether the payments will materialize.
