A man incarcerated at the Ontario County Jail has been arrested and charged with 358 counts of criminal contempt in the second degree after repeatedly violating an order of protection, authorities said Monday.
Laron J. Cheeks, 26, allegedly made 358 phone calls to an individual protected by a court-issued order while he was jailed between December 2024 and February 2025. Investigators uncovered the violations and took him into custody on February 24.
Cheeks was arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Part and remains in Ontario County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, a $2,500 insurance company bail bond, or a $5,000 partially secured appearance bond. He is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
The investigation was conducted by the Criminal Investigations Division with assistance from other authorities.
