Cuomo set to receive labor endorsement ahead of likely mayoral run

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to receive an endorsement from the New York City District Council of Carpenters ahead of his anticipated mayoral bid, Politico reports. The union, which backed Eric Adams in 2021, signals growing support for Cuomo as he courts key allies before the June 24 Democratic primary.

Despite not yet officially entering the race, Cuomo leads in early polling, though he remains a divisive figure. His potential candidacy has already sparked opposition ads and criticism from rivals. Meanwhile, Mayor Adams, weakened by a federal probe, downplayed Cuomo’s momentum.

Cuomo’s past ties to trade unions could bolster his campaign, though major endorsements from top-tier labor groups remain uncertain. His official announcement is expected soon.
