A Cayuga County woman faces multiple charges after deputies say she was driving while impaired by drugs and without the owner’s consent.
According to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck, deputies and a New York State Trooper responded to a single-car crash on Grant Avenue Road near Weedsport-Sennett Road in the town of Sennett on February 22 at 10:22 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the driver, 34-year-old Tiffany A. Skarr of Auburn, in need of medical attention. Emergency responders from Auburn City Ambulance and the Sennett Fire Department assisted at the scene, and Skarr was transported to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation, deputies determined that Skarr had been operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Authorities also discovered that the vehicle belonged to another Auburn resident and had been used without the owner’s permission.
As a result, Skarr was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs (DWAI-Drugs, first offense) and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors. She was also cited for multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
Skarr was issued tickets to appear in the Town of Sennett Court on March 12 at 5 p.m. for the DWAI and traffic offenses. She is also scheduled to appear in Auburn City Court on March 10 at 9:15 a.m. regarding the unauthorized vehicle use charge.
Authorities noted that Skarr is currently being held at the Cayuga County Jail on unrelated charges. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 315-253-1222 or submit tips online.
