Boeheim’s Army is set to return to The Basketball Tournament (TBT) in 2025 after a one-year break.
The team, made up mostly of Syracuse alumni, will headline the eight-team Syracuse Regional at SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College from July 18-23.
Elijah Hughes, a former Syracuse and NBA player, will make his TBT debut with Boeheim’s Army. Adam Weitsman, who joined the team in 2021 and helped them secure their first TBT championship, will return as Chairman.
Boeheim’s Army has previously won the tournament and made two semifinal and six quarterfinal appearances.
Former Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim expressed excitement about the tournament’s return, highlighting its popularity in Syracuse and recalling the thrill of their championship win.
The winner of the Syracuse Regional will move on to the TBT Quarterfinals on July 29, with the semifinals on July 31, and the $1 million championship game on August 3. This year, TBT introduces a new twist: the first regional host to sell 4,000 tickets will earn home-court advantage throughout the tournament. TBT founder Jon Mugar noted the potential for Boeheim’s Army to play every game in front of their home fans.
