Hochul pushes congestion pricing in White House meeting with Trump

Gov. Kathy Hochul met with President Donald Trump to defend New York’s congestion pricing plan, highlighting its early successes, including reduced traffic and improved transit efficiency. The discussion followed Trump’s move to revoke federal approval for the program, prompting the MTA to sue to keep it in place.

During the meeting, Hochul presented a 22-page report showcasing the policy’s benefits. She also addressed key state priorities like immigration, infrastructure, and energy. The toll, set at $9 for E-ZPass users entering Manhattan below 60th Street, remains active despite opposition.

Trump and New York Republicans have vowed to dismantle congestion pricing, but Hochul argues it’s essential for funding transportation improvements. For now, the tolling cameras stay on as the legal battle continues.
