A local man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in Cayuga County.
John T. Netti, 24, pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree attempted murder for attacking a woman in Sennett last year. He admitted to strangling the victim but claimed he had no memory of the incident.
Netti initially faced questions about his competency to stand trial and was placed in a mental health facility before later being deemed fit.
To avoid a longer sentence, he accepted a plea deal for five years in prison and five years of supervision. Sentencing is set for May 1.
