The New York Yankees extended manager Aaron Boone’s contract through the 2027 season, the club announced Thursday morning.
Boone’s previous deal was set to expire after 2025, but his success with the Yankees made the extension an easy decision for owner Hal Steinbrenner and general manager Brian Cashman.
Since taking over in 2018, Boone has guided the Yankees to a 603-429 record, three American League East titles, and six playoff appearances in seven seasons. Under his management, New York reached its first World Series since 2009 last year, ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.
Boone’s .599 career win percentage as a manager ranks 10th all-time and second among active managers behind Los Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts. He ranks seventh on the Yankees’ all-time wins list.
