The Watkins Glen Police Benevolent Association (PBA) stepped up to support Schuyler County Youth Baseball and Softball by voting to purchase and donate a $1,500 automated external defibrillator (AED), according to officials. The decision followed a request for access to an existing village-owned defibrillator, which was kept locked at Clute Park’s Community Center near the fields.
During a Watkins Glen Village Board meeting, Sergeant Ethan Mosher suggested an alternative—donating an AED instead of the PBA’s usual $500 uniform contribution. Youth league representative Jesse Schubmehl agreed, and Mosher secured PBA approval via text before the meeting ended.
This donation ensures immediate emergency access to a defibrillator, enhancing safety for young athletes and their families.
