Seneca Falls’ beloved Canal Fest will take a one-year hiatus as construction and revitalization efforts continue along the canal and in People’s Park. Organizers announced the decision after months of discussions and a thorough search for alternative locations, ultimately concluding that relocating the festival in 2025 was not feasible.
While the news comes as a disappointment to many, festival organizers stress that the upgrades will enhance future celebrations. The Canal Fest Committee considered multiple options but found that logistical challenges—particularly moving key attractions like the popular Duck Race—made a temporary relocation impractical.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of community support and the many offers to host the festival elsewhere,” said Haidee Oropallo, chair of the Canal Fest Committee. “After careful evaluation, we concluded that relocating the event in 2025 simply isn’t feasible. However, these necessary improvements will ensure an even better festival experience when Canal Fest returns in 2026.”
Despite the break, community members are encouraged to stay engaged by volunteering for other local events, including the 2025 It’s A Wonderful Life Festival and the highly anticipated return of Canal Fest in 2026.
