Candlelight vigil planned for Sam Nordquist in Geneva

A candlelight vigil to honor Sam Nordquist, originally scheduled at the Geneva Welcome Center, has been relocated to The Presbyterian Church at 24 Park Place. The event will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Nordquist, originally from Minnesota, was found deceased on February 13 in what law enforcement described as one of the most horrific crimes they have investigated. His death has sparked a strong response from the Geneva community, with many rallying around his family in support.

The vigil aims to provide a space for remembrance and solidarity. Organizers are encouraging residents to come together and demonstrate the strength and compassion of Geneva, emphasizing the city’s close-knit and loving nature.

Parking for the event will be available off Washington Street. Attendees are asked to bring candles to help light the evening in memory of Nordquist.
