Rams to trade WR Cooper Kupp this offseason

The Los Angeles Rams have informed wide receiver Cooper Kupp they will seek a trade, abruptly signaling the end of his tenure with the team, he announced Monday.

Kupp, who won Super Bowl MVP honors in 2022, expressed disappointment in the decision, saying he had always envisioned finishing his career in L.A.

Kupp, 30, is entering the second season of a three-year, $80.1 million contract but carries a hefty cap hit of nearly $30 million in 2025. The Rams could save $20 million toward next season’s cap if they trade him post-June 1. With emerging star Puka Nacua now leading the receiving corps, Kupp’s departure seemed inevitable.

A third-round pick in 2017, Kupp enjoyed a historic 2021 season, leading the NFL in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Despite injuries in recent years, he remains “highly motivated” to contribute elsewhere as he seeks another championship.
