Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the reinstatement of the “Cuba Restricted List,” limiting financial transactions with Cuban military-linked entities. This move reverses Biden-era efforts to ease sanctions, including removing Cuba from the U.S. terrorism blacklist and loosening remittance rules.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez criticized the sanctions, warning they would worsen shortages and fuel emigration.
Additionally, Rubio re-added remittance processor Orbit S.A. to the restricted list, likely disrupting money transfers between Cuban-Americans and their relatives on the island.
