Geneva has received $638,444 through the state’s Community Development Block Grant program to renovate seven owner-occupied homes.
Economic Development Director David West tells the Finger Lakes Times repairs will focus on critical needs like roofing, heating, and lead or asbestos removal, in partnership with Finger Lakes Community Action, which will provide additional funding for energy efficiency improvements.
The program aims to assist low- to moderate-income homeowners, with priority given to homes in urgent need. Though current demand exceeds funding, West plans to pursue annual grants to renovate 100 homes over the next decade.
