On the final day of January, 38 high school basketball teams were in action across the Wayne-Finger Lakes region as part of a 19-game Friday.
History was made in Honeoye as senior Kendall Parker poured in 29 points to become Dundee’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Kate Cronin’s mark of 1,765 in 1993.
Meanwhile, the Newark girls traveled to Waterloo and picked up a win in one of the lowest-scoring games of the season.

The Panthers kept pace with the Eagles in the first half, trailing by just three points at halftime. However, the game took a different turn in the second half as Wayne outscored Geneva 30-16 to complete the season sweep of the Panthers and extend their win streak to four. Meanwhile, Geneva saw its six-game win streak come to an end.

However, the Tigers responded with a dominant 14-0 run, taking a seven-point lead heading into the fourth and never looking back. With the victory, Waterloo completed the season sweep of Newark and extended its win streak to six.

In a rematch from just over a month ago, the Reds got their revenge on the Tigers as they grinded out a win despite a game filled with missed three-pointers and turnovers. Newark led 4-2 after eight minutes, 15-12 at halftime, and 28-18 heading into the fourth. Waterloo held just two brief leads the entire game, both in the second quarter. The loss was the Tigers’ first in league play, dropping them to 8-1, while the Reds improved to 8-2.
