Catholic Charities and United Way step up after Ovid fires: Over $70,000 raised for families so far

Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes and the United Way of Seneca County are teaming up to support recovery efforts after a devastating series of fires swept through Ovid last week, displacing families and destroying a significant part of downtown.

The organizations launched the Ovid Fire Fund, which has already raised nearly $70,000 from individuals and businesses. These funds will go directly to those affected, with CCFLโ€™s team beginning distribution through gift cards and other forms of assistance.

For those seeking assistance, CCFL caseworkers are available through scheduled appointments or drop-in visits at the Edith B. Ford Memorial Library on Mondays and Fridays beginning January 31.

The fundraising efforts continue, with donations accepted online at https://tinyurl.com/CCFLOVID. CCFL has been serving the region since 1982, providing advocacy and services to vulnerable populations in Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Yates, and Wayne Counties.
