Newark Village Board to discuss Blue Cut Road project at public hearing

The Newark Village Board will meet Tuesday evening at the Municipal Building to hold its first meeting of the year and conduct a public hearing on the Blue Cut Road Culvert Replacement Project. The session will begin at 6 p.m. with the public hearing scheduled for 6:10 p.m.

The board will review the progress of the $1 million project funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the project’s administration and its impact on the community. Written comments were accepted until January 18, and the hearing will also accommodate individuals with disabilities or translation needs.

The project, overseen by the New York State Office of Community Renewal, is aimed at benefiting low-to-moderate-income individuals by improving public infrastructure. Officials will provide updates on construction efforts and gather public insights on the program’s progress and future steps.

In addition to the public hearing, the board will address other agenda items, including the approval of contracts for mowing and maintenance, appointments to local commissions, and updates from the fire chief, police chief, and other village departments. Notably, trustees will discuss approving balance transfers, authorizing training sessions, and planning for upcoming village events.

The Village Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for February 18. Public participation is welcomed at Tuesday’s meeting, with three minutes allocated per speaker during the public comment period.
