LA grapples with deadly wildfires, new blazes ignite

Los Angeles remains under a red flag warning as strong winds fuel ongoing wildfires. The Palisades and Eaton Fires have destroyed over 12,300 structures, burned 40,000+ acres, and claimed at least 24 lives. Meanwhile, the newly ignited Auto Fire in Ventura County has triggered fresh evacuations and remains uncontained.

Officials have increased resources, with help from firefighters across North America, to battle the flames and search for victims. Over 100,000 residents remain under evacuation orders. Efforts are also focused on curbing looting and scams targeting displaced victims.

Rebuilding costs could reach $250 billion, with lawsuits alleging utility equipment may have sparked some fires. The situation is expected to worsen as winds persist, heightening risks in vulnerable areas.
