Dana White, CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and a close ally of President-elect Donald Trump, has been appointed to Meta’s board of directors alongside two other executives. The move strengthens Meta’s ties with the incoming administration, following a $1 million donation to Trump’s inaugural fund and recent leadership changes favoring Republican ties.
White and Mark Zuckerberg have bonded over their shared passion for mixed martial arts, with White previously attempting to organize a cage match between Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Meta also appointed John Elkann (CEO of Exor) and Charlie Songhurst (tech investor) to its now 13-member board.
The appointments come as Meta navigates Republican criticism of its content moderation policies and aims to solidify its position in AI, wearable technology, and social media innovation.
