Driver hospitalized after rollover crash on NY 34 in Genoa

A driver was hospitalized Monday morning after their vehicle left the road, rolled over, and came to rest in a nearby field along State Route 34 in Genoa.

Emergency crews from the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, King Ferry Fire Department, and Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc. responded to the scene around 8:05 a.m. Genoa arrived to find the vehicle off the roadway after it had traveled through a ditch before rolling over.


According to responders, the sole occupant had managed to self-extricate from the vehicle before crews arrived. Emergency personnel secured hazards from the vehicle while King Ferry firefighters assisted with traffic control.

Southern Cayuga Instant Aid transported the driver to Auburn Community Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

After approximately 30 minutes on the scene, emergency units cleared the area, turning the investigation over to the New York State Police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
