Fire damages vacant Bristol home; investigation underway

Fire damages vacant Bristol home; investigation underway

A fire broke out late Friday night at a vacant home in Bristol, causing extensive damage to the structure, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to the blaze around 10:09 p.m. at 4040 County Road 2. The northern house on the property, believed to be unoccupied for the past six months, caught fire while the owner, 60-year-old Mary A. Collins, was not home. Officials said the structure sustained significant internal damage, though no injuries were reported.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, including crews from Bristol, Richmond, Cheshire, East Bloomfield, West Bloomfield, Naples, Ionia, and Victor. East Bloomfield and Canandaigua ambulance services also assisted in the emergency response.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the Ontario County Fire Coordinator’s Office.
