Two members of the Cayuga Community College men’s soccer team, forward Jacob Botterill and defender Will Fearon, have earned All-American honors following a historic 2024 season for the Spartans. Botterill was named a first-team All-American, while Fearon received second-team recognition after helping guide the team to a program-best 15-1 record.
Cayuga head coach Chris Davison praised both players for their dedication and leadership on and off the field. “Jake’s season was something we’ve never seen before at Cayuga, with 38 goals and 20 assists,” Davison said. “For Will, it’s harder to make All-American as a defender, but he worked hard all year and all off-season. He stayed here this summer to compete and became a monster up and down the left side of the field.”
Botterill capped his Cayuga career as the college’s all-time goals leader with 69 goals. This season alone, he led NJCAA Division III with 38 goals and added 20 assists, ranking fourth nationally. His standout performance also earned him titles as Region III Player of the Year and Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Botterill becomes just the fourth Spartan in program history to receive first-team All-American honors.
Fearon anchored a defense that set program records for fewest goals allowed during the regular season and postseason. In addition to his defensive contributions, Fearon excelled offensively, finishing second on the team and third nationally with 22 assists. His all-around performance and leadership earned him first-team All-Region honors alongside Botterill.
The 2024 Spartans completed their first undefeated regular season in program history and reached a #2 national ranking. They were also one of only two teams to defeat the eventual national champions, Mohawk Valley Community College.
Botterill and Fearon’s achievements reflect the team’s growth and success under Coach Davison’s leadership. Their dedication during the off-season and throughout the year helped propel Cayuga to new heights.
With these honors, Botterill and Fearon cement their legacies as two of the best players in Cayuga’s soccer history, setting a high standard for future Spartans to follow.
