New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) customers can learn about upcoming smart meter upgrades during two informational open houses this week.
The first session will be held Tuesday at Auburn City Hall for residents in Cayuga and Onondaga counties. The second event is set for Wednesday at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva, covering customers in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties. Both open houses will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
NYSEG representatives will explain the installation process, benefits of the new smart meters, and project timelines. These meters will offer advantages like accurate billing based on real energy use, faster outage detection, and better energy usage insights. No registration is required to attend.
