A Marion woman was arrested after crashing her car into an apple orchard while allegedly driving under the influence, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.
Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on North Centenary Road, just north of Lake Road, at 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 9. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Melissa Duckett, reportedly veered off the road and struck an apple tree. Authorities said Duckett was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Following an investigation, Duckett was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or higher, as well as common law DWI. She also faces charges of aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without a license, unsafe lane movement, speeding, and failing to stop at a stop sign.
A chemical breath test revealed Duckett’s blood alcohol content to be 0.19%, more than twice the legal limit, according to the sheriff’s office.
Duckett was arrested and later released with appearance tickets. She is scheduled to appear in Sodus Town Court at a future date to answer the charges.
