A two-car crash on New York State Route 34 in the Town of Brutus claimed the life of an SUV driver Thursday evening, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:13 p.m. on Thursday when an SUV traveling north crossed into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with a pickup truck. The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the SUV’s passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Upstate Hospital. The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were uninjured.
Investigators indicated that weather conditions contributed to the accident. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Emergency response agencies, including the Weedsport Police Department, Sennett Fire Department, and Port Byron Fire Department, provided assistance at the scene. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
