A Wolcott man has been arrested for failing to comply with New York State’s strict notification requirements for sex offenders, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
Paul A. Valentine, 37, a registered level 3 sex offender, was taken into custody after an investigation revealed he had not reported a change of address within the legally mandated 10-day period. Authorities charged Valentine with Failure to Notify a Change of Address.
The arrest was part of an ongoing effort by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office to monitor and enforce compliance among registered sex offenders. Detective Sergeant S. Ross led the investigation, which culminated in Valentine being processed and released on an appearance ticket.
Valentine is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lyons Court at a future date. Officials have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding Valentine’s alleged failure to report his change of address.
Level 3 offenders are classified as those most likely to re-offend, requiring more stringent reporting and monitoring. Failure to adhere to these requirements can result in significant legal penalties.
Residents with information about similar violations or other concerns regarding community safety are encouraged to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
