An Allegany County couple is facing federal charges after authorities seized nearly 500 marijuana plants from their Cuba residence. Daniel S. Ackerman, 58, and Ana L. Maldonado-Delgado, 31, were charged with manufacturing and possessing 100 or more marijuana plants with intent to distribute.
Convictions could lead to sentences ranging from five to 40 years in prison and fines up to $5 million.
The investigation began with the Cuba Police Department, which uncovered an alleged large-scale marijuana cultivation operation. A search warrant executed on Oct. 10 at the couple’s Farnsworth Road property revealed 475 growing plants, 124 dried plants, processed marijuana, liquid cannabis, and suspected psilocybin mushrooms.
Authorities also recovered a 9mm pistol and drug paraphernalia. The case involves multiple agencies, including the DEA and local law enforcement.
