A domestic incident at 118 E. Green Street, Asteri, on November 24 led to the arrest of an Ithaca man on multiple charges, including felony assault and unlawful imprisonment.
Officers from the Ithaca Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. and located a victim who reported being assaulted and threatened with an axe by the suspect, identified as Cameron McCaffery.
McCaffery was taken into custody without incident and arraigned on the following charges:
- Assault in the Second Degree (Class D Felony)
- Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree (Class D Felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
- Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Assault in the Third Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
The Honorable Judge Peacock remanded McCaffery to the Tompkins County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court at a later date.
The victim’s condition was not disclosed. The investigation remains ongoing.
