Seneca supervisors to discuss budget, tourism, housing, and public safety at Tuesday meetings

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will convene Tuesday evening for a series of committee meetings and a special board meeting, addressing an array of critical issues including the 2025 county budget, public safety initiatives, housing development, and tourism projects.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the committee meetings at the Seneca County Office Building.


Public Safety and Criminal Justice

The committee will consider resolutions to renew contracts for health claims adjudication for incarcerated individuals, authorize training for a deputy sheriff in digital evidence analysis, and approve a grant for navigation law enforcement​.

Economic Development and Housing

Key discussions include approving funds for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Scenic Byway, releasing grants for local tourism efforts such as the “It’s a Wonderful Life Festival” and Seneca Lake Resorts, and advancing a countywide comprehensive housing strategy​.

Health and Human Services

The agenda highlights authorizing agreements for mental health and substance abuse services, applying for a climate change adaptation grant for senior public health, and calling for increased state funding to protect public water supplies​.

Special Board Meeting

The special meeting, set for 6 p.m. immediately following the committees, will feature a public hearing on the county’s tentative budget for 2025. This hearing will provide residents and officials the opportunity to comment on fiscal priorities for the coming year​.
