Wayne County deputies arrested a Newark man Friday following a narcotics distribution investigation that uncovered over two ounces of cocaine and a stolen firearm.
Kevin Q. Hobbs, 47, of Blue Cut Road, was charged after a search warrant executed at his residence revealed the contraband. He faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, both class B felonies.
Authorities say Hobbs, a convicted felon, was in possession of a stolen 9mm semi-automatic handgun along with the narcotics. The investigation, which culminated in the search, was part of an ongoing effort to dismantle narcotics distribution networks in the region.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team carried out the search warrant with assistance from the Newark Police Department, Geneva Police Department, and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Hobbs was processed and remains in custody pending further court proceedings. Law enforcement officials have emphasized their commitment to ensuring community safety and combating drug-related crimes in Wayne County.
