The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects this Thanksgiving to be the busiest travel period ever, screening an estimated 18.3 million passengers from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2—a six percent increase from last year. The busiest days are projected to be the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after.
To streamline the process, TSA reminds travelers most solid foods can go through checkpoints, but items over 3.4 ounces that can spill, spread, or pour must be checked. Ice packs are allowed if fully frozen at screening. Place food in easily accessible carry-on spots for quick inspection.
