The Syracuse men’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 70-66 to Texas in the semifinal round of the Legends Classic on Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Syracuse (3-1) trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and faced an 11-point halftime deficit but took the lead with just over six minutes remaining in regulation before Texas (4-1) held on for the narrow victory.
Free-throw shooting killed the Orange yet again, as they shot just 50% (9-for-18).
JJ Starling led Syracuse with 16 points. Eddie Lampkin Jr. poured in 14 points, while Chris Bell and Jyáre Davis added 11 points each.
