Pamela Hayden, the voice behind Milhouse Van Houten and other beloved characters on The Simpsons, is retiring after 35 years. Hayden, 70, will bid farewell in a special “Treehouse of Horror” episode airing Nov. 24, marking the end of her tenure as one of Springfield’s most memorable voices.
In addition to voicing Milhouse, Hayden brought life to characters like Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, and Malibu Stacy. Creator Matt Groening praised her for making Milhouse hilariously relatable. Casting for her roles is underway.
Milhouse, introduced in a 1989 Butterfinger ad, was named after President Richard Milhous Nixon. Known for his nearsighted misadventures and often the target of jokes, Milhouse remains one of the show’s most endearing characters.
