More than 160,000 pounds of ground beef from Wolverine Packaging Co. have been recalled due to potential E. coli O157 contamination. The USDA announced the recall after 15 people in Minnesota reported illnesses linked to the beef, which was distributed to restaurants across the U.S.
The affected products, produced on October 22, include fresh items with a “best by” date of November 14 and frozen items labeled with the production date. The USDA warns that even a small amount of this dangerous strain can cause severe illness, with symptoms like bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Consumers are urged to discard or return the beef and seek medical care if symptoms arise.
