On the Republican side, Rep. Mike Lawler has also hinted at a gubernatorial bid, recently launching a website criticizing Hochul’s congestion pricing plan. With Hochul facing underwater approval ratings in recent polls, both Torres and Lawler could intensify the race for New York’s top office.
