Auburn’s City Council is pushing for sustained and increased state funding for local governments in the 2025-2026 budget. On Thursday, the council passed a resolution calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul and state legislators to continue providing $50 million in Aid and Incentives to Municipalities (AIM) funding allocated in the previous budget.
The resolution highlights the importance of AIM funds for infrastructure, public safety, and housing, urging the state to create a long-term plan to adjust funding for inflation. Copies of the resolution will be sent to Gov. Hochul, Assemblyman John Lemondes, State Senator Rachel May, and the New York State Conference of Mayors.
City officials stress that reliable funding is critical to maintaining essential municipal services.
