Kyle Singler, former Duke basketball standout and NBA player, has drawn widespread concern after posting a cryptic Instagram video on Tuesday in which he said he fears for his life.
Speaking slowly and shirtless, the 36-year-old expressed feelings of mistreatment, neglect, and being misunderstood in his community, adding, “I fear for my life every day.”
The video, which abruptly ended after 90 seconds, prompted an outpouring of support from the basketball world. NBA players Kevin Love, Isaiah Thomas, and Andre Drummond were among those offering encouragement.
Singler, named Most Outstanding Player in Duke’s 2010 championship run, played for the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder during his professional career. Neither Duke basketball nor the NBA has commented on the situation.
