Authorities in Tompkins County are seeking a dog involved in a biting incident near Collegetown’s UPS Store. A person was bitten on the hand and ankle while retrieving a dropped glove on the 400 block of College Avenue on Monday afternoon. The dog, described as a small beagle mix with distinct brown and white markings, was accompanied by a man around 6 feet tall, wearing a purple hoodie and glasses.
Officials need to verify the dog’s health to determine if rabies post-exposure treatments are required for the victim. The dog must undergo a 10-day observation period to rule out rabies risk.
