Driver hospitalized after Cayuga County crash

The King Ferry Fire Department, with support from the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 34B near McGarr Farms early this morning. At approximately 8:15 a.m., a southbound pickup truck left the roadway, struck and sheared a utility pole, then crossed the highway before coming to rest on the east side of the road.

Emergency personnel determined the driver, who was the sole occupant, needed medical attention. The individual was safely removed from the vehicle and transported by Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc. to Cayuga Medical Center for further evaluation.

While the King Ferry Fire Department managed the scene, Genoa’s crew was released once adequate resources were confirmed. The New York State Police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. NYSEG has been notified and will replace the damaged utility pole.
